Overview

New Woody training board (autumn 2007). 40 degree board, 4.5m in length dropping back via a hanging arete into a 12 degree section. Designed for climbers to build up their power and power endurance, by creating thier own problems and circuits.

Extension to The Wave Bouldering Wall (summer 2006). There are lots of set problems for the novice to accomplished boulderer on 10 and 20 degree flat panels.

Leading? The main 'Five Ten Wall' is 13m, of which 7m is steeply overhanging, and has 40 lead routes with in-situ quickdraws. Toproping? The main hall has 80 top-roped routes on slab/vertical walls up to 11m, all with modern safety flooring. Bouldering? 'The Wave' bouldering wall is 20m long and has 60 set problems on small features and holds (graded from easy to very hard with some v grades), with excellent safety mats. Most of the Wave is overhanging, and there are generally few easy problems (under B2) which makes for quite a shock to the novice (and not so novice!) boulderer.
Leading again? 'The Mammut Furnace' lead wall was completely refurbished in August '99 and now provides 30 routes on a 13m gently overhanging featured wall + bolt ons. Modern safety flooring and in-situ quickdraws makes for great leading, from F4+ to F7b+.
Traversing? There is a 20m traversing corridor with traverses on both sides for warming up. Working out? there is a wooden cellar in the furnace with overhanging bouldering and also a gently overhanging board as well as a campus board, chin up bar and dip bar.Bored? Routes and boulder problems aren't changed very frequently, especially during the Summer months, and the style of route setting can take some getting used to!
Hungry? The cafe provides food and drink all year around, with a greater range of food available during winter (the *really* busy season). [Nick Smith 02/2002]

An excellent facility with great routes and bouldering. Let down by the fact they never buy any new holds and don't wash the existing ones.

The Wave bouldering currently has 'V' grades for all the problems, after they experimented without any grades and just giving easy/medium/hard.
