Overview

There is climbing for everyone at the Quay. With over 150 routes of climbing including top rope and lead wall sections ranging from 7 to 15 metres in height we cover the entire range of climbs from grade 2 for little beginners to grade f8c. The large climbing arena benefits from lots of natural light from the atriums glass roof tiles and within the large space we have 7 loosely zoned areas (The Quarry, The Buttress, The Big Corner, The Arch, The Buttress, The Pillar, Billy's Wall and The Prow) offering a diverse range of climbing challenges.

Routes are changed regularly by our in house team led by one of the region’s leading setters, Mikey Cleverdon, Gavin Atkins and Tom Bunn. We also have regular visits from some of the UK’s leading route setters including Ben West, Caliean Harker, Ed Hamer, Gav Symonds, Emma Twyford and more.

Our two bouldering caves offer something for boulderers of all levels. Boulder Cave 1 is the place to be if you like roof problems or are starting to build your strength as it features our 10 degree training wall. Boulder Cave 2 is where the training opportunities really ramp up with a 40 degree training wall and heavily featured walls. Our new Training Room located next to Boulder Cave 2 enables climbers to complete their training programmes in house with two fingerboards, campus boards and a pull up bar. We normally set problems in five circuits of varying difficulties.

Our mezzanine level has stunning views of the climbing arena, free wifi and serves coffee, homemade cakes and a daily menu of hot dishes, pizzas and paninis. The centre has an onsite treatment room for use by freelance physiotherapists and sports massage therapists. We are also home to Europe's first Clip n Climb centre - a stunning arena of 26 themed climbs designed to attract climbers from 4 upwards.

We are located in the heart of Exeter's up and coming Quayside area - a space fast becoming the centre of outdoor activities in the city with kayak hire, bike hire, the new Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre and plenty of gear shops. We are easily accessible on foot, by bike and by car and are just a 10 minute walk from the cathedral and city centre area.
