Not to much issue with what I had been told was a awkward start. However it was a very Windy day, I reached the ledge it was difficult to complete the route in 55mph gusts. Also had issue with rope drag, but all in all a very fun route though I was very glad to reach the top on this particular occasion.

Made such a mess of the route! First time properly using double ropes, ended up with twists and turns everywhere down the route; huge rope drag - ended up stuck on the final ledge somewhere in between standing up, but pulling as hard as I could on holds while pushing as much as possible from my legs, until somehow one the pieces of gear below popped out with the upward force from me (giving my belayer a shock who'd thought I wasn't standing up fully because of being scared!) This undid one twist, so I pulled through some more rope before going to top out. Then I went for the top out, went for the diving belly flop but was stopped mid jump, pulled back from the lack of rope. I was left lying with only my chest and head over the top. I swivelled round and was left with one leg and half my torso in contact, and from that position tried to pull some more rope through, but the twists were too much. I lay there and shouted down, "I'm stuck" to the amusement of my belayer but the concern of a passing walker who offered me help (I politely declined). From then I wriggled and wriggled freeing up centimetre by centimetre until I could use my knee to provide a bit more leverage, slowly edging my way away from the edge until I could use both knees. By this point after at least 15 minutes, of 30 seconds wriggle and pull/push and 30 second lying in an exhausted heap, I was able to flip over and untie this by now jammed rope and then glide to set up an anchor. All to the amusement of that concerned walker! Seemed so much harder than VS, haha but I've learnt my lesson!

Enjoyable. Did the right hand start as recommended in the new Stanage guide, but not sure it would be better than the original. I think the airy traverse to the jug on the arete is very hard for the grade of HS given in the new guide, in fact, I'd say HS 4b was a complete sandbag, so watch out!

This route was possibly done in the worst recorded style in the history of the sport. I opted for the left hand start. I gained the large jammed block by what was described by my belayer as 'an upside down belly flop' - ie feet above head. I managed a standing position by using the double knee technique. The face and arete were climbed with only slightly greater finesse passed disappointing protection. The culmination of this climbing spectacle was during the top out. I attempted the belly flop technique again, however due to rope drag and a less favourable incline, I was less successful. After nearly chipping a tooth, I decided enough was enough, and I accepted an offer from a passer by to 'grab me by the scruff of the neck and pull me over the top'.
