will_lake - AltLd - 17/May/15 with Richard Lake
Quite tough when your feet are so swollen by the heat that your toenails are falling off and you can hardly put any pressure on the footholds! Steep climbing all the way up, there is even an improbable roof on the 4+ pitch after the traverse. Traverse itself felt a little spicy edging around the blunt arete and the exposure is huge. Three of us started at 8am and finished at 4pm. Took ages due to painful feet and rope faff at the belays. Walk off is really nice on obvious paths so save some water and head down that way...

Fantastic climb and an excellent day. Lead the two 6a pitches together, and wasnt too bad for rope drag and great for endurance. The line is now fully bolted so no need for trad gear. Dont recommend to walk descent, very chossy and generally knaf, and can abseil down.

Lead all 8 pitches. Started 6am and topped out at 10am. Scrambled off the back following the cairns off to the right. From the bottom of the valley we followed various tracks that lead to a dried up riverbed full of huge colourful plants. Stayed in this until the waterfall and then went right to avoid the drop off, heading for another obvious path leading down to the train tracks. Great route and glad we did an early start to keep cool. Top 2 pitches have runouts and although 4+ still quite hard to read.

Absolutely awesome climb - done as a three. On at 9.30am in the wet, back on the ground at 5pm.
Lead 1,3,5,7 - Pitch 5 is great but goes all over the place, and felt exposed seconding pitch 6.
Abbed from the top of pitch 7 - doable in three pitches on a pair of 60m ropes. Pitch 1 is c.45m to anchors, Pitch 2 is c.25m to a spike with lots of tat, Pitch 3 to the ground.

Climbed with Eleonora D. First multi pitch, lead 2 4 6 8. Great fun. No way pitch 7 is only 4+ as there was some tough climbing. May have gone the wrong way although we were on a bolted line. Last pitch is an unbolted scramble with some slings on the way to make you feel better about it. which was much closer to the 4+ we were expecting of pitch 7.

Mega day out. Had trouble finding start of route. Started climbing at 12 noon from the belay at the top of P1 (scrambled up here). Justin led P2 and we swapped leads thereafter. Took leader falls on P5 & P7 (which didn't feel like F4 - especially if you are carrying a heavyish pack and end up going for the steep "direttisima" instead of traversing a couple of moves right near the 5th bolt :). Awesome day out. 12 noon start, 5pm finish to the climbing. Included falling, resting & re-climbing 2 half pitches. Scrambled to the top, took pictures and walked out west. 2.5 hour descent (we took lots of detours) to the Albercones car park.

Topped out without bringing trad gear. Climbed as 2 parties of 2, me in the leading party. Alt leads so that I led the traverse pitch. Roped up at a big ledge ~10 m away from the first bolt, halfway up guidebook's P1. If the traverse is P5, we found the grades to be P1 F6a, P2 F5+, P3 F5+, P4 F6a+, P5 F5+, P6 F4, P7 F4, P8 scramble. Beware that (with these pitch numbers) P7 has two bolts in ~15 meters and P8 has no bolts but ab anchors at top and bottom 20 m apart. Quality climbing all the way, in particular the traverse. Well worth topping out, and we did the right thing not bringing any trad gear.
guhj - AltLd O/S - 31/May/12
Climbed in 2 teams of 2 on alternate leads..
soloed pitch one (its not really a pitch, more of a scramble)
lead pitches 3,5,7, seconded 2,4,8. .. fell on pitch five which felt more like 6a+ (rockfax says stay left of the bolts but i found that misleading)
fantastic climbing all the way, with amazing exposure. The first 6a and the traverse are the best pitches ;)
no trad gear needed, but be wary if you are not experienced in multi-pitch, they are all hanging belays and it can get a bit messy!

The route is now Fully Bolted. All pitches now climbable via newish bolts. The last 2 pitches are slightly left of the rockfax line and Pitch7 is more like 5+ following hard to see bolts. At the end of Pitch 8 there is an ab station, for several ab's at 35m intervals, this now seems to be the best option as the line is quality!

A grand day out for the full tick. Good steep sport pitches after the initial scramble; fine exposure on the trad traverse; interesting walk and scramble down the dry watercourse in the valley over the ridge. P1-5 sport route to below the roof.
P6 - WH led. Traverse right past many pegs and a couple of bolts. Possible to back up with wires if wanted. To a double bolt belay.
P7 - PD led. Supposed to traverse up and right to an orange bay. Pete decided on a variation and went past a thread, stepping right then through the steep rock direct on magnificent jugs. Belayed by a tree. If proper route had been found this would have probably been more like Severe but was fair at VS. Plenty of evidence that this variation is well travelled with polish and slightly worn gear placements.

Had a take on both 6a pitches due to going the wrong way.
Followed guidebook advise for P5 and didn't get anywhere, turns out good holds are about 5ft to the right of the bolt, not left.
Once over the second bulge of p5 a ramp goes up left, but the route goes right, on tricky to spot bolts

Hidden - Lead rpt - 03/Jan/10
Did the whole climb with only a piece of pro cord. Traverse is well protected but required a 40m run out on the next pitch. easy climbing, little hairy. Abseiled off on a shorter rope than recommended after talking to some locals. Belay points are a death trap half way down!

Awesome start to the holiday! Did the last two pitches as three with a couple of bits of cord and a sling as gear, spiced it up a bit! You can just about make the abseil with one 60m rope but beware the rap station under the end of the traverse is about 32m away and is shockingly bad! Definitely up there in the worst rap anchors I've ever used. If you take two ropes you will get good chains all the way.

Cleaned first all but the last of the sports pitches, didn't tackle traverse and trad section of the route. Goal for Spanish tour number 2 completed!

lead P1(solo),2,4,6,7 and 8 combined.
the obvious line after the traverse pitch follows to the right of the overlap past several in situ threads - this is the one we took and cuts out the curving section into a belay on the ab line and arrives at the first ab point - painted on rock in yellow paint.

did 5 pitches, soloed first and led 2 and 4, boring route. each pitch is 1 star.

Great climbing. Did all 8 pitches and walked off the back - fairly straightforward, took about 45mins back to Albercones parking including a diversion because we stayed left once in the valley instead of right, and encountered a big drop-off in a dry riverbed.
