Got to the layby at 2pm and was shocked by the number of cars. However had the route almost to ourselves and was at home in Kendal drinking tea by 5:30pm. Roped the 1st pitch only. Great route although almst a staircase now.

Turned up just before 10am to find at least five teams in front! At least another five turned up after we'd done the first pitch. Led the first pitch then soloed the rest. Turned up at 9.30am to find a queue of 5 teams already waiting! The wait was well worth it though. Pitched the 1st ice fall then solo'd the rest - all great value. Pauls recon early in the week paid off! One of my most enjoyable ice climbs to date.

Lead P1 then soloed the rest. The top of P1 barely hanging after the 6 people in front and sun had done its work. Rescue of solo-er while standing in a freezing shower and being hit in the chops from on high all added to the fun! All the rest of the many steps and pitches are really good as well, great day out

Fantastic day out. Left the car at 08.00, the first pitch was in the sun and was melting fast despite the sub zero temperatures.Also, there was a lot of water coming over the fall. Phil (& Dave Ryder) did a good lead as the ice was poor & there were some moves on rock to get to the belay. Conditions improved as the day progressed and the top pitches were in superb condition.

Main pitch running in the middle and looked dodgy on the (very short!) walk in. However, it was climbable on the left with good ice (though exposed to spray in places) and slightly dodgy at the top where the ice catches the morning sun. Rob led this, then I led the next small step after which we put the rope away and soloed the rest. This was where the real surprise was... The ice just kept coming! All easy III with the odd steeper move but with perfect chewy ice.
