Superb ice!! better than Steall falls.

Turned up just before 10am to find at least five teams in front! At least another five turned up after we'd done the first pitch. Led the first pitch then soloed the rest. Had waited 25 years to do this so waiting half an hour for teams to move on didn't seem too much of a burden. Photos at http://bobwightman.co.uk/climb/cautley_spout_slides.php
Bob - Lead - 23/Dec/10 with M. Bullough & S. Brock

Fat. Possible on the left or right side so the crowds didn't have to queue much
crowberry gully - AltLd - 23/Dec/10 with Ross McGibbon

Great fun, night time ascent. Afew other parties were out but good conditions, lead P1 and then soloed the rest. P1 is good value!
markfairbank - Lead O/S - 23/Dec/10 with Ian Moore

Fantastic day out - 3 stars at least
mattish2000 - 23/Dec/10

Turned up at 9.30am to find a queue of 5 teams already waiting! The wait was well worth it though. Pitched the 1st ice fall then solo'd the rest - all great value. Pauls recon early in the week paid off! One of my most enjoyable ice climbs to date.
Mountain Llama - 22/Dec/10 with Paul S

BikeClimbWalk - 2nd - 22/Dec/10 with Glen H

In good condition. We did a line on the left for the first pitch.
Ken Taylor - AltLd O/S - 22/Dec/10 with Andy Chadwick

I led the first pitch and then we soloed the rest. Dramatic climbing but really easy. Great fun and hello to all the others who were there!

Adi Hooper - AltLd - 09/Dec/10 with Roger Ward

Omitted wet pitch one, ann led next pitch so 2nded then soloed 2nd main pitch and eyed up the top one for another day!
wheelo - Solo - 09/Dec/10 with chris g, craig, ann

Traversed in to commence at top of first pitch. Superb conditions. Can't wait to do the whole route next winter.
Ann S - AltLd - 09/Dec/10 with Craig and John W and Chris G, Craig and John W

Lead P1 then soloed the rest. The top of P1 barely hanging after the 6 people in front and sun had done its work. Rescue of solo-er while standing in a freezing shower and being hit in the chops from on high all added to the fun! All the rest of the many steps and pitches are really good as well, great day out
lithos - AltLd - 08/Dec/10

Wonderful day, route in good nick, especially the upper pitches which don't get the sun.
Rog Wilko - 08/Dec/10 with Phil Tucker, Pete Nugent

Hidden - 08/Dec/10

Night ascent. P1 bad at top on right.
Andrew Wilson - Lead O/S - 08/Dec/10 with Chris Vernon

Fantastic day out. Left the car at 08.00, the first pitch was in the sun and was melting fast despite the sub zero temperatures. Also, there was a lot of water coming over the fall. Phil (& Dave Ryder) did a good lead as the ice was poor & there were some moves on rock to get to the belay. Conditions improved as the day progressed and the top pitches were in superb condition.
Pete Nugent - 2nd - 08/Dec/10 with Phil Tucker, Roger Wilkinson

Tough grade finish on 1st pitch. probably grade 4.
steven - AltLd O/S - 08/Dec/10 with Dave Ryder

Main pitch running in the middle and looked dodgy on the (very short!) walk in. However, it was climbable on the left with good ice (though exposed to spray in places) and slightly dodgy at the top where the ice catches the morning sun. Rob led this, then I led the next small step after which we put the rope away and soloed the rest. This was where the real surprise was... The ice just kept coming! All easy III with the odd steeper move but with perfect chewy ice.

Headtorch ascent. Main pitch felt serious after both of my headtorches went awry. Main pitch not properly formed. Some sporting interst ensued. Great evening out.

Missed out the first couple of pitches because they were pouring. Lots of running water but enough good ice to make it interesting. Top couple of pitches really good. Climbed with Col and Rhodes'y and head torches. Excellent afternoons sport.

Missed the main (first) pitch due to queue. Traversed in above it. Good ice all the way, if a little thawing. Quality route, lots of interest all the way up.

Avoided the melting (and queuing on the) bottom section. Great weather!!
Alex Thompson - 2nd O/S - 10/Jan/10 with Haydn Martin

George led the main pitch (which was well formed), Ian led 3rd and I led last pitch. Some runny bits still, but excellent ice throughout.
