Certainly more interesting and in parts more challenging than other grade 1 gullies in these conditions. Turned left just after Pollux and went up the gully into increasingly steep and better conditions. We had Sca Fell summit to ourselves. Met two others who'd come up Moss Ghyll. We found an easy route down the East Buttress to the abbing point above Mickledore. a superb day with an alpine ambience.

A very dicey day on Lord's Rake with large drifts and powder snow. Traversing made difficult, so exit gully climb out used to reach Sca Fell instead of making final traverse to end the Lord's Rake. Weather: clear blue sky, snow and ice from 200m.
