Spicy solo up the slab separating the snow shoulder from the rest of the neve/glacier, followed by easy scrambling to where the ridge narrows and the climbing becomes a bit more difficult, whereupon we started moving together, including on the 'great slab', where Dave went first. The descent proved to be quite complicated as we couldn't find either a continuous ab line or a way to downclimb all the way back down, so ended up doing a bit of both, including a couple of abs off some very old stations where we had to sacrifice our prussiks. 3.5 hrs hut to summit, about 3hrs back down, 7 hours in total including breaks. Very enjoyable easy day. We were right to go for something short as heavy rain arrived in late afternoon, at least in Chamonix. The Monzino hut is fantastic and the setting is amazing.

Descended this route. Hit by electrical storm on it. Quite exciting. Dense hail; stones being swept down the face; all of us had lightning discharge running through us.
