Rockfax Description
I, 50m. Probably the single easiest and most accessible alpine route in this book, this really is as simple as alpinism gets. What this climb lacks in difficulty, it makes up with in views and tagging this ridge onto your day allows to you get an unrestricted look at the Dent du Géant, across to the Aiguille du Midi and down to the Envers des Aiguilles. From the Helbronner lift, walk easily to the Col des Flambeaux and the West Ridge is on your right. Traverse the snow slope on the left of the ridge and follow this until it rises gently to a small col. Continue up the 35 degree snowy ridge to the summit. Reverse the route to descend. © Rockfax

After doing crevass rescue. Chris lead the approach and scramble. Interesting mixed ground with some rope work to protect the steep snow in descent.

TOok 8 monutes from col du Flambeau. Snow, charcoal-covered ice with added rusty cables, then a delightful 5 minute Glyder-like boulder scramble to a splendid view. Axe, crampons essential.

Ice towards the top made it a bit harder than it should have been...
