This is hardest lead to date, not the hardest grade I have led, but by far the most difficult mentally and physically at the same time.... Definitely type two fun! :-) Struggled to start climb from the ground, after 4th attempt to start was considering giving up, decided to give it one more go and made the moves and succeeded. Struggled from the start of the next section, by the time I was half way up I just kept moving, placing gear and attempting to breathe!

Really nice route, a classic at the grade! Beautiful beautiful rock! Went up and down the start a few times, couldn't see a way of pulling myself over and was pumping out placing gear, on the third go I moved out a little further towards the nose which proved a lot easier! Some really nice friction friendly gritstone always inspires confidence when smearing! Moved out right slightly, up the twin cracks with a series of suprisingly tricky moves and some odd rests (involving partial chimney climbing!) Leads to the top moves which I found really awkward. The rockfax guide shows the line finishing up to the right so I moved round to the right and got stuck, reveresed back down after placing some gear, tried again, same result, then saw a couple of moves on the left which looked easier and did them with style! Topped out with a big grin on my face! Although I found this route really tricky, I prided myself on being in control all the way up which I normally can't say. I was never in a situation where I was making lunges, hoping for good luck, always had 3 points on and could always reverse the move I had just done. Felt good, really good. Will repeat.
