βeta: Setting out for Salamanders Gully, delusions of grandeur got the better of us. I lead the first pitch and after my partner found the real meat of the climb unpalatable, we conceded to a couple of pensioners out on a stroll. The bombardment promptly commenced and we abseiled with our egos slightly dented or least, my partner's ego. We settled for Centigrade which was a pleasant easy climb. Lots of ice on the route. The pensioners remarked how difficult it was (grade 5?) when we met them at the top. Perhaps age was finally catching up with them, as we certainly weren't.
