Beautiful winter conditions, with a stable snowpack, route 75% complete snow cover,short frozen turf section in centre for about 15mt. No cornices to summit slope due to high winds on the 7th, easy top out.

Intended to do a harder route, but the conditions (especially the wind) were so harsh that we decided to solo number 2 gully. I've never known winds so strong on the summit, you could barely stand and could definitely not walk in a straight line. Did the last part of the route with eyes shut because of the spindrift, got some goggles now :-)

Descended to get to base of V corner. Busiest I've ever seen it, but also the best conditions. Solid neve from top to bottom. Small cornice to down climb, but a solo ascent by a dog showed it couldn't be too tricky!

Climbed in good snow conditions up to the summit shelter and saw Alan Hinkes guiding clients on the way. Came down Swirral Edge and then attempted Gully 1 but too busy so went back to Gully 2 and did it again with no one else on it. Descended by Striding Edge. Saw mountain rescue incident involving helicopter pick up close to Red Tarn. Later found out that poor chap died in a fall.
