[Andy on Lower Icefall pitch, 3 kb]150m. To the east (left) of the cliff is a long gully that runs all the way from the Chew Brook in the bottom, to the crest of the moor. This gives an excellent scramble (really quite easy for a Mod) and also offers the most interesting way to the cliff. It provides a good winter route under the right conditions though care is required as there have been avalanche accidents here. © ROCKFAX

Ticklists: Connoisseur's Classic Rock, Moorland Grit - The Essential Selection (Over The Moors).

Brilliant scramble in an atmospheric setting. A bit greasy but it adds spice to an easy climb. Just wished it lasted a bit longer!

Winter conditions after work
craig h - Solo rpt - 22/Dec/09

Expected this to be wet as hell as we approached - the valley stream was flowing freely. Very pleasantly surprised to find it iced up. Great fun - finished off day with pints in railway inn Greenfield - top pub with nice folk and good pies.
coombsy - AltLd - 20/Dec/09 with Neil D

very nice, gully almost completly dry, very easy even for a scramble even picking the hardest line. Getting down to the start from the top was probably hardest

A little bit of ice at the top justified the use of crampons.
Hardonicus - Solo O/S - 08/Feb/09

Odd patches of ice... took longer to sort kit out at top than to climb the route.

Kelly ticked this before I did. I lost the bet coffee and cakes on me. Excellent wet and cold rock. The sound of water rushing over your head adds to this route. Great expedition for a wet day out!
