Date is a guess. It was absolutely pooring it down even before we got to the crag, but we had been rained off just too many times to be wimpish and turn around with our tails between our legs, and it turned out to be a brilliant evening out! We ran/speed walked up the wet grassy slope towards the gloomy alderman. Trying to race some people next to us to get a bit fit but they didn't know about it and still almost beat us lol. Turned out I had met a couple of them before at a few local meets including the Holmfirth clean up meet the week before. Had a great time, after a bit of a chat and a exchange of names with the suprising amount of 3 teams up there we ran off up to the top pitch of this as I've done it before and thought it wouldn't be too bad even in the pissing rain! Great fun, walked up the first bit then reached round the roof and placed a nut in the crack. After a bit of fiddling decided on the most positive edge on the left wall and jam in the crack and moved out round the edge. More lovely moves on soaking holds and crack another piece of gear and then finished it off. I love this pitch, unfortunately the view from the top this time was just the cloud we were in! Matt found it easy and seemed to enjoy it!

Remembered this as being a wonderful pitch and I was right! Dad wants to lead it sometime but it wasn't exactly ideal conditions (VERY cold, VERY windy). Moved up the wall trickily (could just go up the gully) then out round the roof onto the face. Plenty of protection wherever you want it. Looking at a photo from the first time I see I placed one less this time, opting for just 2 in the whole pitch! *shock horror*. I LOVE the top moves, grasping huge jugs when you cant feel your fingers is so satisfying! Dad followed with ease.

Led p1 and p2, second pitch has one nice-ish move but you could just scramble up the left of it, very little protection though. Second pitch is absoultely great! I hadn't been outdoors for a few weeks and this little crack felt great! Some great thinish jams at the top and nice footwork all through, plenty of runners. Fantastic feb weather.
