Various un-graded problems tackled along the lowest band of rock between Rock-a-Nore and Ecclesbourne Glen. Rock is v fractious in places and there are pockets of clay but plenty of satisfying problems can be had with a little persiverance.

The bottom band of rock is very solid (it is obviously the oldest rock, which has had more time to lithify than the upper section) and is a pleasure to climb, (except for the clay) especially on a sunny day. The rock is generally less than 90 degrees, but there are a few bulges and steeper sections. There are band of 'iron-stone' which provide excellent holds, as well as some harder cobble structures, and unlike the inner southern sandstone, it is quite easy to top out.

As noted elsewhere, the pebbly beach allows for the immediate impact of falls to be reduced.
