L o n g plod up Grisedale followed by a snow plod uphill into the cove. Bottom half of gully in deep powder but got progressively better with height and onto good solid snow/ice where we managed to get a couple of screws in good ice.

Night time accent, left the car at 8 reached the top at 12. Took a rope but didnt use it. No snow in the cove just enough in the gully, was wet snow with a few patches frozen. All the steps were pretty bare, no ice just frozen turf and rock. the cornice didnt exist. Came back down striding edge without crampons back at the car at 2.45 am....tired

Great climbing conditions, white out snow and cloud, solo'ed up as far as we could then roped up. To give more interest and difficulty, about half way we went left (not the left variation in the guidebook) up a corner crack and then dropped down into a steeper gully and through to cornice and summit. Made it last 4 pitches, really great outing, pity about the long walk in.

Backed off from about 3/4 of the way up. It was lean and icy and only had 1 axe and no helmet. Had a really good laugh playing around on what bits of ice there were though!
