Soaking wet (rock shoes stayed in rucksack) and head in the clouds for parts of it - welcome to North Wales! Nice technical top out (off route) but shame it wasn't dry so we could have a go at Avalanche/Red Wall/Longlands continuation. Hopefully next time.

Climbed alpine style in big boots, really wanted rock shoes though. Not overlay difficult but thin foot placements all the way made it a bit interesting in big boots.

Awesome route - some great exposure and a real mountaineering feel. Mostly stayed on route apart from accidentally doing most of the direct finish, which felt about severe.

A fantastic mountain day out. Beautiful weather. Great location. Practicing moving as a team of 4 - Ash and I climbed as a pair and led first few pitches leaving the gear in place for Matt and Ian. Swapped over for last few pitches.

Fun day out, did the whole route in Alpine style. Ran the first 5 together, and some of the others after that. 2 slightly difficult sections, cruised the first, but went off route on the second and had a awkward traverse move in an airy spot. Should have worn another jumper. Topped out and then headed for Snowdon. First ascent of that, then back the to carpark. Finished in the dark....off for a pint. Lovely.

Second to last pitch (pitch 8) was definitely harder than a V Diff. Bitch of a walk in...the first 40m before the bottom of the Quartz zigzags was emotional and wet. No-one esle on crag, cloud came in mid way through which could have made route finding difficult. Need to identify the route from a distance initially and then pay attention to route all the way through.
kelricho2000 - 2nd O/S - 17/Oct/10 with Mark Eddy

Lead pitches 2 4 6 8 10 . Great route , crux is grooves on p 5+6 , other than that its all plain sailing and route finding is never a problem apart from traverse on p 8, just follow the polish !

Nice easy day out.Did in 7 pitches, led pitches 1,2,4 & 6, topped out in about 4 hours. First 2 pitches were very easy but hardly any protection, found having a 60m rope useful. Climbing was a lot better from then on, with a very awkward groove on pitch 4 just before the arete. Our pitch 6 up the steep quartz wall and steep groove were excellent.

Climbed alpine-style in big boots with Darren and Rachel Smith, following John Waterhouse, Fiona Leach and Adam on a separate rope. Good fun, but I found the wet groove near the top a lot harder than Diff! A big day out - we started from Llyn Gwynant campsite and came up the pipeline, then descended via the Watkin Path back to the campsite.

Wild camped and woke up to a drizzly & overcast morning. First pitches barely a scramble, got more interesting on pitches 4-6 (Jon's leads :-( ). Final couple of pitches were better still, but little suprised to top out onto footpath at pitch 8 (were we off route or was it a guidebook writers in-joke)?! Anyway, finished the day off completing the horseshoe in much better weather.
Alex Thompson - AltLd O/S - 10/May/09 with Jon Thompson

Superb mountain day. Great route. Some snow about so winter ascent? And started hailing on final pitch.
freemanTom (Guildford MC) - AltLd - 03/May/09

Climb started fairly straight forward, almost just a scramble. It got a little more tricky on the undercut groove, good fun tho. the knife edge is I guess what this climb is all about, not as hard as it looks - we did the climb in 8 pitches as a posse to the 10 which the book said. the last pitch I'm still not sure we went right or a little off route BUT it seemed alot more than a diff! but I still managed it with a little thought, which I certainly wouldn't of had a few weeks ago. The final pitch made the climb to be fair. Very good day out ...
snakes77 - 2nd - 02/May/09 with Monkey1

Fantastic day out, planned to go on to the Horshoe but opted for the shorter Eastwards descent as we were knackered by then. Did in 8 Pitches, all fairly straight forward with some nice exposure, 4th Pitch is the best up the exposed slab before getting on the arete itself. Need to be very careful to stay on route - We went off route on what should have been the last 2 easy pitches, and ended up doing a 40m pitch that felt more like severe (lots of gear though). Great day out, stunning scenery for the walk in and had the route to ourselves. My climbing partners 3rd big multi pitch

Weather too dicey for Avalanche / Red Wall / Longlands, but superb time had on our plan B route. Couple of moves felt delicate in big boots.
