FSA. Patch Hammond (one point of aid) 7.2002. The 'point of aid' was three burly guys dragging the first (and only?) ascensionist through the blowhole, whereupon his shorts got dragged down to his ankles. One of Lystep's funniest moments. 15/Jul/2002.

βeta: Was fairly damp (but clean with a surprising lack of bird poop) on the bottom half and felt about 6a, but it dried out towards the top. Definitely easier in the dry (and if you like caving - I definitely don't, so its probably a 5) but I doubt it ever dries out completely. Still felt fairly "steady and thrutchy" at the same time with good holds most of the way up after you get into the narrower bit. Gets more secure at the top of the blowhole. Seems moderately safe, but I'd say S1/2 because there's a small chance of hitting the ledge at the back of the crack at the start, or if you fall towards the top, you could scrape yourself down one of the walls. Not sure what you'd do if you didn't fit through the top though, maybe take some gear, a rope and a friend to lower you back down the blowhole, or downclimb...but that seems a bit scary. It was brilliant fun (type 2), so get on it if you're little!! | ||
