stunning route. definitely worth 3*. first winter route for the rest of the team. solo all bar the first step. early morning start was rewarded with a spectacular sunrise at the start of the route proper. stunning views.

Only 2 teams climbed it today. Overall snow was powdery and unconsolidated. Quite hard work. First rock section tricky as no verglas on the rock. Second, steep rocky wall even harder..... took a 50m slide back down the gully when my axes pinged off the rock and feet scrabbling..... All ok though

An amazing day - glorious sunshine, no wind and I was 1st and only one on the route and on the summit of snowdon ! Topped out at 9.45 and then finished off with a traverse of Llewyd and finished by early afternoon - very alpine :-)

We left home at 01:30hrs and travelled 195 miles to find Llanberis at +6 degrees Celcius. Hmmmm. Left the Pen-y-Pass car park at 05:45hrs but were not the first! Gentle rain persisted until we reached the ‘col’ on the PYG track, then skies gradually cleared. We could make out the Spider by the time we reached the PYG/Miner’s finger stone. Snow was soft at the base of climb but this improved as we reached the Zero Isotherm, somewhere in the vicinity of the Spider. Approx 1cm of new snow overlay a firm substrate but it only began to feel like ‘styrofoam’ in the upper section. We took a rope, some slings and a ‘Deadman’ but soloed the climb, topping out at 09:15hrs. Skies continued to clear and it was obviously a few degrees below freezing at the Trig Point. By the time we had returned to our rucksacks many other teams had arrived and were gearing up. This was my second visit to the Trinity Face – the first being in 1977. In conclusion; Central Trinity is a good easy-angled snow route with terrific situations, particularly in the upper section, best enjoyed on a clear day.

Not firm neve but not powder either. Often sinking up to the knees on the way up to The Spider, then gradually got better. The crux was a short mixed section towards the top, quity spicy with one axe.

Frans first ever winter route. Perfect conditions. The weather stayed crisp and clear all day. Were one of the fist groups on the route, so snow not to hacked up. Topped out to the most spectacular views. Finished off the day by descending via Crib Goch and watched the hordes ascending the route throughout the day.

Climbed many times over the years from Dec through to April in deep powder and perfect neve, and even hard ice! Best ascent was probably on Christmas Day 1995 with Harold Jepson first in the car park and climbed after a fall of 12" of new snow! Soloed Feb'10. Nobody else on the route on such a superb day.
