First pitch shite condition. Ice pretty god for next 2. Had total mare. Got to bottom of route and only counted 1 axe. Defintely started the day with 2. Go all the way back to the car, no axe, back to the stream, no axe. Have a little think, retrace my steps exactly and found the axe below where the path crosses the stream. Race back up the hill, gear up and solo first pitch to join others. Andy belays me and Dave on the next 2 pitches and solo finish.

First winter outing and a grand way to knock the rust off - especially by tackling some of the falls by harder options; took one short section of overhanging ice on p3 ! Pretty quite, only two otehr groups on with us. Condition not bad though a few holes here & there (apparently it was rammed on saturday)and running water behind. took opportunity to practice a few skills like abalakov threads for belays etc. Completed to top - its rude not too :-)

Soloed all the way from the path to the top to avoid queueing (with full sacs of gear and rope!). Great fun. But winter skills somewhat rusty - attempted foot swap resulted in me cutting loose on axes with one crampon stuck inside the other, to much shaking of heads from crowds on belay stance!

my first ice climb, we started from the path andy fell in the stream so we put our crampons on. soloed a couple of steep sections up to the start of the route, which gave me the convidence to solo the whole route with full sacks. What a great day and brill climb got my heart going a couple of times.

First winter route of the season and it's still only November! Went up into Idwal with the vague hope of finding some ice and were very happy to find the Stream in decent nick. The ice was even thick enough for screws in places - I placed one on P1 for a laugh. Did P1 and P2, then it was over to Su for her first winter lead on P3 using a screw that Paul had left on a steep section - she coped admirably. Carried on unroped up the never ending easy section. Left Ogwen Cottage at 10.20am after some trouble getting the car out of the Ynys car park and got back at 4.00. A perfect blue sky and hardly any wind - what a great day! Paul H and John pitched in front of us while Su's friend Paul and his friend Leon soloed ahead.
