Colonel's Cavort HS 4a
3 pitches. An irregularly climbed route that would benefit from some more traffic. Start 10ft right of Mucky Gully.
P1 - Climb a lichenous wall and crack on the left to gain the top of the large pedestal of rock that separates this route from Mucky Gully. Step right and continue up the arête to the tree belay of P2 of Colonel's Arête.
P2 4b Traverse left around the arête to the base of a wide crack. Climb this with interest and as much style as you can to gain easier ground above. Continue to the obvious tree belay.
P3 - Continue up the right arête of the pinnacle to gain the top, then step, climb or jump the gap to belay in common with Colonelís Arête and Mucky Gully.

Led pitches 1&2 (together). Had to do some serious gardening at the base of this one! As far as I could tell, the route starts in a patch of bracken right of Mucky Gully and you bridge up. I finally got to use my rope knife (cutting brambles!), and cleaned enough moss from hand and foot holds to make an easy ascent. onto the ridge, climb the arete and then squeeze past the tree :) The offwidth is full value for HS and a massive sandbag for 4a if you do it properly (my friends casually laybacked on second but still not 4a!). I got a Dragon 5 and 6 in, but you could do with larger and more. Needs more traffic, but good fun... clean above the first pitch. Third pitch is basically the same as Colonel's Arete.

Climbed first pitch of colonels arÍte as the first of cavort is very mossy and had just received a sprinkle, came out onto second pitch of the Cavort, what a brilliant off width for the grade, def worth the effort. As you come out onto face it looks like it's going to go without problem due to positive hand hold and the reassuring left edge of crack, place big silver, take two with you if possible, you are probably meant to get right in the crack but for some reason I laybacked half way up the crack then got in before reaching for positive holds above, what an adrenaline Rush. Brilliant climb can't wait to lead full route when it has had some tlc

P1 pretty green. P2 was nails, had a leg and arm jam well above last piece, scrabbling like mad. Ended up resting on a nut, bad times.

The crack,(P3), is awkward to start and protect. Big gear lessons the fear factor.
