Probably completely off route, "4th birch tree" is a perfect example of how not to describe the start of a route! We picked one which seemed to be the 4th, and there was indeed a ramp going left, but after that nothing fitted, it was much harder than Diff (even allowing for it pissing down with rain all day), and there was no protection at all. So I abbed off a tree after 25m or so, and we scrambled up the Easy Way Down instead (which was quite exciting enough in the conditions!)

Unclear if we'd found the 4th birch tree start and then gear was sparse on the route Tom chose to take. I thought the short wall up to the optional birch tree belay was a tad hard for a diff but then the sun was so hot and the rucksack so heavy to lug. I really liked the blocky wall on top pitch and as guidebook says it's more solid than it looks.
