Lead 2nd pitch.Good conditions,if a bit warm..
I led P1, in very thin condition with bullet hard ice. Single abseil (60m) down the right hand side.
Pitch 2. Ice a bit grim in places but manageable
Lead first pitch
2nd Pitch. Thin but fine.
|Rachel Slater||22/Feb/13||2nd O/S||
Ice was very brittle on first pitch due to temps, making it ferl quite hard! Second pitch ok with lots of placements but very cold hands!
Olli Crudge, Tony Walker
Started On the right belayed from the left hand belay. Hard Ice on either side and wet in the middle.
Right hand side this time. First waterfall ice lead!
Did left in one pitch, which is more of a WI3 but you NEED a 60 metre rope to do it in one.
Started on the right, but a lot of water was dripping down onto the RH belay, so crossed over to the LH belay, and finished the route on the left. A nice enough route both nothing special, a bit disapointed.
Only did the left hand first pitch due to time constraints. RHS was not fully formed.

Climbed LH then abbed down and climbed RH.
Super chunk of ice. Paul managed to 2nd the full 70m with a bit of messing on the belay!
Charles, Paul Morgan
We climbed the right-hand side. The condition was very good if a little brittle; at least there was no hollow ice like in mid-December 2008, where I lead the P1 of the same line. After the P1 (half-way at the cave), we decided to go back down (as the time was pressing), so I abbed off.
left hand variant. first water ice lead
right hand variant, 1st pitch only
I lead P1, and Graeme did P2 – his first proper lead on ice.
Repeat as did with Emily last year - slightly less formed, took the steeper right hand side again with a semi-hanging belay this time!
|Morgan Woods||04/Feb/08||Lead O/S||
Easy enough first pitch, but a lot of snow on it. 2nd pitch quite steep (took left line) with a tricky exit up the rock top tree. Got down to find our mate had fallen off the second pitch and an avalanche had buried our sacks.
