L'Escale*** VF5A
A great, sustained VF - varied, very strenous in places. Starts off below the village and climbs up past it, with 2 suspension bridges, 2 monkey bridges, a scramble net, an overhang (the Surplomb de la Justice!) and finally a tyrolean traverse. There are several escape points, alternatives to both the scramble net and the overhang, and the tyrolean can be skipped.

My first Via Ferrata and it didn't disappoint, an amazing 90 minutes of adrenalin rush and exposure! Strenuous in places, but certainly recommended. The optional overhanging Surplomb de Justice was hard, especially with a rucksack!! Skipped the Tyrolean because of a lack of pulley. I'll be back!

Unable to do the tyrolean due to lack of pulley

Enjoyed it so much I looped back round and did the tyrolean again - along with the alternative route to the Surplomb
