UKC

240m, 7 pitches. This climb, originally established by the Messner brothers in 1965, takes the path of least resistance up the vertical dolomite wall that makes up the imposing North face of the Cima della Madonna. The climbing is technical and exposed, often with long runouts between pieces of protection. Good routefinding and a steady head are required, and some passages on pitch 5 are probably grade VI (it is, after all, a 'Messner grade V'). Historic climb that is perfect for days with stable weather, but not to be underestimated.

Reinhold and Siegfried Messner 1965.
