Crag features

Commanding a lofty position overlooking the extensive Lleida farmland, Cubells can be a charming place to spend a summer evening. A great crag to utilise if staying in the village which shares its name, or in nearby Artesa-de-Segre.

Thin pathways snake up through the bushes and lead to Sector For Fred at the far left end of the crag. The path continues underneath each sector, allowing for easy access to the grade V to 8a+ routes scattered across the zones.

The limestone of Cubells is first-rate for the most part and offers a fierce style of climbing which can be particularly savage on the fingers. Its southern orientation means it can be blisteringly hot here, though the open aspect means any wind can offer some respite from the heat.

Absence of stars on the routes in the database does indicate a poor quality route which much of the feedback will confirm.

Pete O’Donovans website is a good source of up to date information from the area: http://www.lleidaclimbs.com
