Crag features

A small but significant set of crags which have recently grown to include sectors further down the river. Sector Le Camping is unfortunately now banned. The main crag has a concentration of very accessible hard routes up a jaw-dropping leaning wall. Next to the campsite is a charming beach, with potential for some serious deep-water soloing and even greater potential for some serious sun-lounging.

Both walls are east-facing, and get plenty of shade in the afternoon, making this a good venue for lazy starts in the summer months. Expect it to get a bit chilly at other times of the year as the trees provide a lot of shade in the mornings.

Approach notes

To approach the left side of the crag, approach as for Mazet along the D453 but continue driving up the hill for a couple of hundred metres until you see a sign to the right for Camping Actinidias, turn down here and park in the campsite car park on the right. During off season this car park is closed (the campsite owner and family live on site) but there is enough space along the road for a few cars.  To access the main crag - Actinidias Renep - walk down the river-side and follow a path, heading down-river, around the perimeter of the campsite. Do not enter the campsite - unless of course you are staying there.

The alternative approach is quicker for accessing the right-hand side of the crag, and there are a lot more spaces to park. Continue along the D452 past a T-junction until you reach a layby on the left and an extensive parking area in the trees on the right. There are some large trail-maps at the side of the road. Park here and pick up a path that is marked with yellow dashes (it goes left at the first spilt and right at the second). This leads downhill until you reach another path that follows the river. Turn right and you will shortly appear at the right-hand side of the crag.

Access Advice

Sector Camping is now closed. The camp site has developed some huts underneath it and removed the bolts.

Sector camping has been closed due to enlargement of the campsite since 2013.
