Second highest peak in NZ, and very much 'the mountaineers mountain'. More graceful than Cook, with two superb ridges plus the Balfour Face, which holds some of NZ's best hard Alpine routes.
Most often climbed from Plateau Hut. Everybody flies in as the walk up is horrendous. Going standby from Mt Cook village isn't too expensive.
