Gorges de la Jonte Lozere, FRANCE

Crag features
This is a beautiful area to climb in with superb views. There is some single pitch sport climbing but much of the climbing is multi-pitch, ranging from fully bolted to pure trad routes.
Consequently, the area is generally more adventurous than many French crags and route finding is not always easy even with the guide book. The walk-ins can be long, with loose rock and dense vegetation.
The guidebook advises 2 x 50 metre ropes for the multi-pitch routes, prussiks, slings, long quickdraws to avoid rope drag and a full rack for the trad routes.
The descents are not always straightforward either so careful study of the guidebook is advised before setting off on the longer multi-pitches.

Access notes
Le Rozier is a good base for this area and some of the climbing can be accessed on foot, mainly the first 2 or 3 areas of Secteur Reverend. The other areas are a short drive on the D996 out of Le Rozier with parking available in several laybys.
