The crag is a quarry which lies in the grounds of Chasecliffe House. The Secret Garden in in a wonderful setting, with a beautiful mixture of old oaks, beech and pines, and some truly impressive giant redwoods.
Situated in the woods, the quarry walls can be green and damp after rain.
Fro the A6, take the B5035 towards Crich. Roughly 800m along this road a track marked 'Public Footpath to Cromford Canal' leads down the hill opposite a road (Shaws Hill) on the left. Park near here. 300m further down the track lies The Secret Garden. Entry to the garden is gained from a path which leads leftwards up the hill to a point where the garden wall can almost be stepped over.
