The Winterhorn, also called Pizzo d'Orsino, can be ascended over rough terrain with a bit of easy scrambling up the south-west ridge. Intermittent paths on the ground do exist all the way from the Gatscholalücke (Passo d'Orsirora) to the southwest, but these are not signposted or marked at all.
The peak can be ascended from Realp to the north or with less ascent from the Gotthard pass road to the east, where one large and several small bodies of water may enhance the trip.
