Skinning up © mal haskins

Crag features

Three main ice falls plus many subsidary drainage lines, giving the most reliable easy access low grade ice in the valley. often in condition for most of the winter season.

Lots of groups use this area for top roping, particularly the right Cerise and Creme, though this tends to be weekends.

Approach notes

Put your snow chains on at the turning for "Chamonix Mont Blanc Helicoptere" in lower Argentiere. Park here if no snow chains. Walk up to last bend, just after CMBH, should be able to pick up well defined trail, for 20mins. Not too bad after a 3am session in La Terrasse.

Accesible by bus, get the number 2 to Grand Montets, then walk a few hundred meters up the ski piste piere ric, before following signs to the buvette/restaurante of the same name. follow the above directions from there.

most routes can be decended by absail with two 60m ropes, off of trees except for the bolt belays on 'la cremerie'. alternatively it is possible to walk down and round skiers left of the top of the crags, or if finnished for the day, continue on up to join the red ski piste and glisade down to the car park!
