Impressive mountain with a monster icefall and a number of potential ice lines situated at the end of Bergsbotn on Senja. Crag gets sunlight most of the day which can make for some interesting ice conditions and care must be taken with snow conditions.
The most direct pproach to the main icefalls is best from the road a little further down from the viewing platform, However the ravine below the platform is also quite passable. Some online information suggests topping out and descending the mountain to the northwest. This so far hasn't been confirmed and certainly doesn't seem a good option. The most reasonable descent is to return down the ice. If climbing the main icefall on Hesten then the descent can be cut short by walking/abseiling off climbers right down the obvious snow ramp. This ramp can also serve as a potential means of reaching ice if the lower pitches are not in condition.
