In the summer of 2020 during covid restrictions the traverse was cleaned by a small group of frustrated yet dedicated climbers with a selection of tools. The result was The Lockdown Lowdown, a right to left traverse starting at the often wet streak and big slots just out of the tunnel on the right. Grading feels tricky. Is V5/7b+ a thing? There's a lot of moves! Linking it feels like a redpoint challenge.
Other additions came in 2021. The 2 Weak Extension is the right hand wall right to left ending at the wet streak. The Holloway Finish on the far left, moving around the arete and up to mantle onto the Ledge. The Renshaw Shelf extends this by hand traversing the shelf and crawling into the tree.
The full Lockdown Lowdown does it all, 50m of fingery leftwards shuffling. Perhaps V5/7c? Then The Lockdown Lowdown natural, eliminating the 5 improved holds in the main section (marked red), although the old ones at the far left are all in. This felt V7 and a proposed 8a grade for it all. Other opinions needed!
Along the canal towpath either way. Park at Wolvercote and walk in. Park above on the A40, several pull offs available, find steps down by the bridge.
