Climbs 2
Rocktype UNKNOWN
Altitude 67m a.s.l
An impressive wall with very good rock similar to Pex unlike much of the stuff hereabouts. Has been looked at by climbers over the years who were presumably put off by several problems and found it easier just to go up to the main crag: the big tree growing close to the rock, the huge pile of branches in the base of the quarry, and the tortuous way to the top (follow path through trees from seat at top of steps). Also, the quarry is a local nature reserve managed by the Chester West and Cheshire Council so keep a low profile! Could be a good venue with some TLC.
Park in the car park for the main Helsby crag on Alvanley Road. Walk down through the woods keeping to the R of the fenced off caves. Best keep away from these caves and the fenced off tunnel as the rock here is soft and loose. The quarry is at the end on the L.
