Crag features

Recently cleaned, this little bouldering venue has three distinct buttresses and a couple of classic problems, one of which would be three stars anywhere. It has a pleasant outlook over glenfinart and catches the afternoon sun. The base is good on all three buttresses and the rock is generally solid. No significant seepage and the base is mostly dry. There is a larger prominent buttress around 50m further up the hillside with a very undercut base which may hold further potential for bouldering albiet likely without top outs. Due to the undergrowth, developing the larger crags on this hillside for routes would need considerable enthusiasm

Approach notes

Park at the lower "Baron Turner" forest road entrance on the glenfinart road between Ardentinny and the Whistlefield Inn. Hike down the forest road taking the right hand branch and continuing to a big parking area at its termination. Cross the river (fallen logs) just beyond and trend straight uphill for around 20m till an old overgrown forest road is encountered. Follow this to the right until it terminates at a burn and ruined building at the edge of a field (route is mostly obvious but at one point the route becomes faint at a boggy crossing of a small stream and goes into pine forest). From the ruined building follow the right bank of the burn uphill for around 50m until a dark coloured buttress is encountered on the right. Traverse under this to the right and the bouldering is encountered. Approach time 10-15minutes
