Gaitscale Buttress

Climbs 15 – Rocktype Granite – Altitude 670m a.s.l – Faces E

Crag features

This prominent granite pillar up to 35m high, overlooks the head of Gaitscale Gill 2km north-east of Cockley Beck Farm. The rock is rough and solid, although mossy in some areas. 

Best routes - Crack of Dawn(HVS), Masterplan(E4), Gaitscale Buttress(E1), Slim Slow Slider (S), Snorting Crack(E1), Wailing Wall(E2).

 

Descent: Either end of the crag. 

Approach notes

Park near the cattle grid, ford the river and a sketchy track is followed northwards alongside the gill (approximately 40 mins from Wrynose Bottom).
