Fiend tucking into Brunch, a new problem at Garheugh Point, Galloway © Fiend

Crag features

Primarily a very good bouldering venue. No issues with tides. Quick drying and good year round.

Approach notes

Park at the junction of A747 and B7005. Follow the track down to the beach and the boulders are obvious to the North.

Tidal/Manky Boulder - 'jug traverse' is mentioned in the route description as part of another route, but no actual route for the JUG TRAVERSE ? Puma Reverse SS V1 2 B 2 More Info Start at the right hand end of Puma in a sit start & layback the overhanging crack to gain the jug traverse.

Robocop - seemed very undergraded and although clean, mega hard for that grade.

Point 1 Slab - excellent granite like rock, lots of good routes, a bit high ball (with a mat!) and good traverse on the tidal boulder. Lots of routes described are either overgrown or infested with hairy sea lichen!

Dumby Boys - route description is wrong ?

Very nice beginner bouldering but good for all levels of expertise. Plenty of accessible and toppable slabs and some nice traverses. Free campsite on the road between the crag and Auchenmalg, with the Cock Inn within walking distance. Bring a brush; lots of sketchy lichen

Don't go for volume only a few decent problems. Otherwise overgrown chords.

Some fantastic bouldering in a gorgeous setting. By the sounds of things it doesn't get much traffic, but nevertheless the south-facing rock is clean, sound and very nice to climb. If you're looking to stay in the area I can also recommend Hawthorn House in Port William as an excellent B&B!
