Good selection of quality easier routes up to 40m long on several buttresses which link well together to give a good days climbing. Best routes are Mitre Buttress Direct(VD), Harrow Buttress(D), Slabs West(HS), Suaviter(S), Oxford and Cambridge Direct(MS), Dexter Wall(VS).
One and a half hour uphill walk from Gatesgarth Farm. Farmer charges £4 to park but there are other places nearby. Or walk from Buttermere, takes about 15 minutes longer.

The current guidebook recommends walking to the top of High Stile, and then descending. The descent is loose scree and objectively dangerous, with a couple of drops which cannot easily be seen from above. Probably safer, (and easier?) to walk up from the combe. charliesdad - 17/Oct/23 |
