Crag features
There's something for everyone at Baume Rousse.
Starting on the left there are two buttresses offering clssic sunny "Euro Slab" climbing from F4 to 6b.
Moving round the corner the crag is characterised by a large alcove which often echos to the sound of ravens in a Malham / Goredale kind of way! Things steepen up here with nothing of interest below 6a. The upper tier is accessed by a via feratta style cable - there are some great routes here - Goncchi 6b+, Les Raviolis 7a+ and Les Spaghettis 7b should not be missed. These route go into the shade by late afternoon.
On the right of this big alcove are some of the crag's test pieces - Ecolo Net hard 7a - and some long 7c's and 8a's to the right. This area is a sun trap with hardly any breeze and can be hot!
The smaller shady alcove to the right has some good routes. the classic pumpy corner Bapaat Connection 6a+ is really good and the steep routes on the right are all worthwhile - use the knotted rope to avoid the steep 7b starts. This area is cool and shady in the morning but gets the sun in the afternoon.
The last butrees to the right has some easy angled slab routes mainly in the grade 5 range. This is often a busy area with people above you so a helmet is recommended here.

And which grades are wrong?
Enty - 27/Sep/12
Which guidebook?
Enty - 27/Sep/12
Just a request (and no offence intended), but can you keep the grades as to what they are in the guidebooks, not the opinion of the moderator.

Hi Enty
Finished doing the Christmas lights back all over Blighty?
Bout time you changed the grades of "Rigpa..." and "Les Secrets..." at Baumme Rousse both to 8a: no-way are they both 7c+!
Cheers and all the best to all 3 of you, Mike.
