165m, 5 pitches. Fairly harrowing for the first 2 huge pitches, then it gets more trad for the final few easier pitches.
The 1st pitch is a very run out 45m of gritty slab climbing with just 5 bolts. The rock quality is very sandy in the first half meaning that the friction is very poor at best. There’s a groundfall potential if you bungle any of the first three bolts.
Pitch 2 is 57m of sustained C2/C3 aid, with the first 10m being quite hairy. Marginal micro cams and small wires in expanding sandy cracks above a ledge. Gulp!
After that it’s just hard work but much safer.
P3&4 are cool trad chimneys and sandy traverses with decent gear and P5 is an unroped walk and scramble to the best & biggest summit in Arches.
