Following the unfortunate accident in May 2021 which led to access to the crag being temporarily suspended, Settle Town Council have confirmed that climbing access is allowed once again.
Given no one has climbed on the crag since May 2021, anyone visiting the crag should adopt a cautious approach as there is potential for loose holds/rock to have developed since climbing was suspended.
Jun 2021: Crag Closed while investigation of a recent fatality is ongoing.
New sport crag above Settle town centre. A range of easier climbs from f4 to f6a+, and some good harder lines in the f6c to f7b range.
See UKC Article
PLEASE NOTE: After the severe weather this winter (09/10) there have been reports of lots of loose rock on the easy routes on the left of the crag. In one reported case a very large flake fell near '3 Peaks Bunk Room'. Please be very careful and remember to wear your helmet!
The cliff can be accessed via gates in Castlebergh Lane or Constitution Hill leading to various paths which zig-zag up to the crag. Parking is a difficult problem for residents in the narrow streets so please use public car parks around the town centre.
This is great easily accessed crag hosting a number of popular lines, but there have been some instances of rockfall here over the years.
Being aware of the possibility of loose rock, it is worth considering wearing a helmet and taking other appropriate precautions to minimise the risk of any potential rockfall.
Anyone climbing here does so at your own risk, as with any other crag,
