Climbs 3
Rocktype Granite
Altitude 2100m a.s.l
Faces E
Granite slabs above the Mer de Glace, about 9 pitches high.
From Montenvers 1.5hrs walk. Descent to the glacier, walk up to level with where the Glacier de Leschaux enters the Mer de Glace. The routes are on the true left bank of the Mer de Glace just under point 2406 on the IGN map. A stream comes down just to the right of the climbs. You have to climb up an unstable pile of moraine to get to the base of the climbs, and the base gets lower every year... Some ingenuity may be required to get to belay 0 as this keeps getting higher up the cliff!

Please Note: the OHM now recommend not approaching the slabs from the Mer de Glace due to the unstable moraines. It is still possible but via an abseil from above. (July 2015)
