A brand new crag! Only developed in 2014 it is still a bit 'raw' but gives a pleasant spot in a quiet area of the Maurienne. I think it's schist but stand to be corrected.
Not yet in any guidebook but there's a topo here.
The 'two pitch' climbs are actually quite short but intermediate lower-offs have been placed to allow finishing before the crux section (lower sections are all fairly easy).
This crag sits above the main road (D1006) up the Maurienne valley between Modane and St. Michel. A topo is available from the Tourist Information office in Orelle - lovely lady there is very helpful. This might be available on-line - see link above.
Drive up the road from Orelle towards Bonvillard. As you get to the hamlet of La Cret du Vie there is a dedicated parking area on the L.
Walk up to the second hairpin on the road and follow the signed track. First section gives good views of the valley and the last bit is on an ancient track through old woodland. Delightful walk.
Developed with the support of the community. The crag has a picnic bench and extensive 'lawns' as well as a dry toilet provided. Not a major crag but a pleasant spot that will eventually 're-wild'. Look after this place, please.
