On Mt Kinabalu age 5. © Gudge
This is a mountain that can be climbed easily by walking and pulling up a rope for the steep bit; scrambling really. Permission is required to climb there except via ferrata which is organised by mountaintorq.com.
The summit plateau is well above the tree-line and has the typical featyres of glaciated granite. On the western plateau are several peaks with climbing on them: Low's, Victoria, Alexandra, St. John's, Donkey's Ears, etc.
Parties of various nationalities have climbed here independently over the last 50+ years, and details of routes and first ascents are not well documented.
Kinabalu mountain park, Sabah; about two hours drive from the capital, Kota Kinabalu
