Crag features

A good spread of routes across the grades all on excellent rock make this place an attractive outlier to the Potes Area. The crag gets the late afternoon shade so spring and autumn make it a great place to enjoy the warmth of the sun. In the summer the area can be used as a evening venue to escape the heat. The climbing is technical and fingery made up of slabs and vertical walls. The pinnacle of La Torrexona is steeper and much more demanding than the rest of the buttresses here.

Approach notes

From the N-634, which can be gained from either the A-8 main coast road or the N-626 from Cangas de Onis. From Arriondas turn onto the N-634a and then take the right turn onto the AS-260 signposted El Fitu. After 2.5km take a sharp left turn onto a concrete track for Collau de St. Tomas. Follow this up to a notice board and turn right, just before a fork there is a small widening that can fit a car. Care needed with the limited parking as the farmers need constant access so you may have to head elsewhere if these spaces are full or find somewhere on the concrete road up to the hamlet. There is more limited parking if you turn right at the fork and continue to just before the decorative spring where there are a couple of grassy area on the left that will fit a small car. This is just below a well defined path that leads up to the La Forcada end of the crag. If you are heading to La Torrexona another parking space is found along the track just past two houses and a steep section of road which ascends via two switchbacks to a layby on the right. Although it is not much further to just park on the concrete road just below the notice board and walk up if you are worries about the tight parking.
