Hong Kong Rock Description
140m. The longest continuous bolted route in Hong Kong with an easy 15-minute approach and the unique summit exit over the World War Ii defences. This is a fun route with sufficient difficulty to demand focus but not too much that it becomes a distraction from the stunning views at every belay.
1) 4c - 40m - 18 Bolts. Climb the slab easily right of centre to harder moves below a ledge and double-bolt belay below the headwall.
2) 5c - 22m - 15 Bolts. Step right off the ledge and climb the wall with harder moves at first onto easier ground. From the top of the wall traverse left, following bolts that lead to the lower-off of The Enemy Within then further left to step down and belay from the lower-off for Crack Attack.
3) 6a+ - 10m - 6 Bolts. Assault the exposed headwall above the belay to tenuous exit moves onto the blank slab guarding entry to the ‘Lunchtime Ledge'.
4) 4c - 18m - 6 Bolts. Step around the belay and walk through a cutting in the vegetation to the base of the next slab. Follow the traverse line left to a double-bolt belay.
5) 6a - 20m - 12 Bolts. Climb the slab directly above the glue-in bolt belay (the right line of bolts) with some friction moves at the start and a gradual traverse left towards the top. Belay from an anchor at the base of the next tier.
6) 5c - 15m - 9 Bolts. Easily traverse right along the base of the wall to a right facing groove containing a crack. Climb up the wall onto a narrow footledge then shuffle left, climbing a slab to finish.
7) 4c - 15m - 7 Bolts. Traverse right along to the base of a clean slab. Climb the slab trending right towards the top then move up to a double-bolt belay and summit ledge.
Behind the belay a trail leads up to the base of the Wwii fortifications. Mount a more peaceful assault of the wall and explore the ruins before walking down the Wilson Trail. © Hong Kong Rock
