Mountaineering Ireland is actively engaged with Newry, Mourne & Down District Council in relation to securing access for climbing at Moorhill Quarry. In the meantime climbing at Moorhill Quarry is not allowed. There is a new lock on the gate installed by the council on 18/11/2022. Please do not use the quarry to ensure that the talks between MI and the Council runs smoothly.

βeta: There's potential for a very good ab station/anchor at the top of this route, which is also the top of Winchester. A long bit of rope/tat wrapped around a rock there. You could also get to it by scrambling down the ledge from the top outs of the routes to the left. It would also be a lot dryer so the rope/tat wouldn't get so worn. Would have done it if I had some myself. | βeta? | |
