The Matterhorn of the south, this shapely peak rises to a height of 3033m. The most popular ways are either the Northwest Ridge, Southwest Ridge or West Face. French Ridge hut or Colin Todd hut being the nearest huts. Highest mountain in New Zealand outside of Mt Cook National Park.
Approach notes
Approach via the West Matukituki Valley, a 2-day walk from road end to Colin Todd hut or 1 very big day. Helicopter flights to Bevan Col are possible, then walk across glacier to CT hut.
