Reason: Nesting Birds

The quarry is leased from the Forestry Commission by Gloucester Wildlife Trust and managed as a nature reserve. Sections of the crag (usually vegetated) are not open for climbing - see p.264/5 of the Wye Valley Guide (CC 1998) for details. The crag is no longer subject to spring nesting restrictions as described in the guidebook.

25m. The arete between the south and main faces of the tower. Start at ground level slightly right of the arete. Up the wall to an edge (peg), move left to a crack and up to a ledge. Avoid the pillar and climb the arete direct with a long reach (peg) to gain another small ledge (peg). Continue up the arete (peg) using small pockets on the right to a horizontal crack and easier finish.
