The rescue team resorted to man power, they climbed up and over the summit of Snowdon to rescue the walker. The team then carried the man back over the summit and down to the Half Way House, by which time the RAF had another aircraft on scene, and airlifted him to the nearby hospital Ysbyty Gwynedd.
The sheer volume of visitors coming to Snowdon makes the Llanberis Rescue Team one of the busiest in the country. The area covered by the team includes Snowdon and the horseshoe, the south side of the Glyder range and the north west side of Moel Siabod. The team is made up entirely of volunteers who live close to Snowdon, turning out in all weathers, day or night, 365 days a year, they share a common purpose: To help anyone who is in trouble on the hills.
"We deal with incidents ranging from a sprained ankle on a footpath: to a crashed paraglider: to difficult and dangerous rescues getting badly injured climbers off big cliffs."
